Be the VIP on Kulula.com--Celebrating Kulula's Newest Aircraft

Kulula.com, a low-cost airline based in Johannesburg, South Africa, has been creating buzz in the aviation industry this past decade or so (since its founding in 2001) by setting trends and making innovations in the aviation industry that make flying a more pleasant and enjoyable experience for its passengers.

For one, the airline has a great sense of humor--its planes are painted in bright and attractive colors (though mostly green and white) with more than the usual markings:

Their pilots and flight attendants are great comedians too:

  • "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants.
  • "Please be sure to take all of your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have."
  • "Welcome to Johannesburg, if this is not where you were intending to go then you have a bit of a problem."
These seemingly-simple innovations have actually helped drive its success and fame in the highly competitive industry that it is in. These changes have actually helped make flying a better experience for its passengers, and shows the airline's dedication to earning the people's loyalty. Kulula.com hopes that they would be best remembered not just for their sense of humor but also the quality of service that they offer, and possibly the warm fuzzy feeling that passengers could get when they realize that the airline's humor is actually helping them ease the pre-flight jitters (that's just coming from me though).

Just this year, the airline took delivery of new B737-800 planes to give passengers the comfort and safety that they deserve. The airline puts great emphasis on treating its customers the right way--because they are the source of business, and that they know that building close relationships with the consumers is highly important.

To celebrate the arrival of its latest aircraft, the airline decided to throw a party--which is actually a standard practice in the airline industry. During these aircraft launch galas, airlines usually go all out--VIP guests, great food, fine wines, models, and the works. But come to think of it--are these invited VIP guests even the ones who actually fly the airline? Don't these people have their own helicopters or private jets? What about the people who actually matter--the passengers?

Kulula.com, of course, has realized this and has actually come up with something that passengers would surely remember. Watch:

Kudos to this airline and I wish you guys more success. Stay awesome!
