It's official: the local distributor of the premium ice cream brand Haageen-Dazs will be pulling out of the Philippines by September this year according to reports.
The local distribution arm of General Mills, Inc., a global food giant, has announced that they will be closing the remaining branches of the ice cream brand at Eastwood City and Shangri-la Plaza by the end of next month. Aside from Haagen-Dazs, other well-know brands that would be leaving the country include Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Nature Valley, Gold Medal, and Green Giant. All of these food brands are currently being handled by the same company. The company cited an "increasingly challenging environment" as the reason for this closure.
According to the company, around 60 workers will lose their jobs as the result of this pull-out. The company also added that all remaining Haagen-Dazs products will be sold at retail stores up until supplies last.
