Two Philippine Teams Emerge Victorious at World Hip Hop Championships 2012

Two teams representing the Philippines emerged victorious at the recently-concluded World Hip Hop Dance Championships held at Las Vegas, Nevada.

The UP Streetdance Club from the University of the Philippines-Diliman landed in 3rd place and took home the bronze medal in the MegaCrew category, ahead of 11 other competing teams, and only behind GRV from the United States and defending champions Royal Family from New Zealand.

Meanwhile, The Crew (composed of University of the Philippines alumni) grabbed the top spot and won the gold medal in the Adult Division. They edged out a team from Mexico and the United States, who placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Several other Filipino teams flew to Las Vegas to compete, but either did not win a medal or failed to advance to the final round in their categories. Some of these teams include A-Team (who finished 4th in the Varsity Division), Legit Status and Fresh Flow (Varsity Division; failed to advance to the final round), and the La Salle Dance Company-Street (MegaCrew Division) from De La Salle University.
