Vote and Win Awesome Prizes--Only from Uniqlo Philippines

Even before the scheduled opening of their first store at the SM Mall of Asia this June, Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo already aims to make itself known to the Philippine market.

Until June 10, 2012, lucky Uniqlo fans may just get a chance to win prizes such as UT shirts or a trip to Japan for two with their "Uniqlo Vote and Win" contest. Here, 100 UT shirts will be given each week to anyone who would vote for their favorite design at the "Uniqlo Vote and Win" app at Uniqlo Philippines' official Facebook page. If ever a voted shirt becomes the most voted design, those who voted for that shirt may get a chance to win a trip for two to Japan. The number of winners selected would depend on the number of likes for the Uniqlo Philippines Facebook page.

If you were not selected as a winner after voting for a certain design, don't worry--you may vote again after 24 hours, or you may share the app with your friends to get another chance to vote. Lucky winners of UT shirts may redeem their prizes at the Uniqlo redemption booth at the SM Mall of Asia on selected dates, indicated on the official Facebook page.

Australian Clothing Brand Cotton On Coming to the Philippines

Heads up--the Australian clothing brand Cotton On, popular among the young, fashion-conscious crowd, is coming to Manila.

Although no official announcement has been made from the brand, those who have been to the new Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, Manila (which opened just this year) have seen the space where the flagship store of the brand will be located, and one blogger named Karen Ang even took a photo of the words "Cotton On" printed below the Lucky Chinatown Mall logo, placed on a large tarp covering the supposed space for the store. It seems as though the brand has chosen to remain silent about the launch as of the moment, though we should expect to hear more from them soon.

Cotton On was founded in Australia in 1991 and now has over 800 stores in at least ten countries. Aside from clothing for men and women, the brand also sells women's lingerie and sleepwear (under the brand name Cotton On Body), kids' wear (Cotton On Kids), shoes, bags, and accessories (Rubi Shoes), and Typo (homeware, craft, and stationery).

Uniqlo Set to Open First Philippine Store This Year

After the launch of the American clothing store Forever 21 in July 2010, the SM group is ready to bring in their second foreign clothing brand in the Philippines this year.

Uniqlo, the popular Japanese fast-fashion clothing chain, will be opening their first store in the Philippines by June 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia. This was announced during a press launch by Fast Retailing Co., the operator of Uniqlo, held at Makati City on Thursday. On the same day, Uniqlo Philippines launched its official Facebook page and website.

The store will be occupying an approximate 1,550 square meters of floor space which would offer the latest in men's, women's, kids', and babies' fashion.

Naoki Otoma, managing director of Uniqlo Asia and Japan, has expressed his excitement over this new development, as he believes that there is great potential in the Philippine market.

Uniqlo is currently one of the largest apparel companies in the world, operating over 1,000 stores in Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the US, UK, Russia, and France.

UNIQLO Comes to the Philippines in 2012

It's confirmed: Japanese clothing brand UNIQLO will arrive in Philippine shores by the first quarter of 2012.

The clothing retailer, known for its basic, casual and affordable clothing, will be brought here courtesy of SM Retail, the same company responsible for bringing the American brand Forever 21 to the Philippines. The first store is expected to open at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay city.

SM Retail has partnered with Market Watch Investment Corporation (a subsidiary of Fast Retailing), to bring UNIQLO which would add to the growing list of foreign clothing brands who have expanded to the Philippines in recent years.

UNIQLO opened its first store in Japan in 1984, and has since expanded to other countries, including China, Russia, Hong Kong, South Korea, USA, France, and Thailand. It currently operates 974 stores spread out across these locations worldwide.
