I got a chance to watch my first-ever Cirque du Soleil show yesterday at the new (and gigantic!) SM Mall of Asia Arena, after hearing so much about it. When I failed to watch Varekai last year and seriously regretted it after hearing so much positive reviews from those who have seen it, I just knew I wouldn't dare miss Saltimbanco this time around.

I'm really glad that I was able to watch it--it was truly an amazing show. On one hand, there were a lot of heart-stopping acrobatics that had the audience screaming in fear and amazement. There were also "lighter" moments such as clown or mime acts. Some audience members were also selected to participate in the comical acts (not the acrobatics, though!). If you're seated closest to the stage, you'd better prepare yourself--you could be selected to take part in a skit towards the second half of the show and I'm telling you--it will not be easy (it is very entertaining for the audience though). After the show, all your dignity will come flying out the window. Thou hast been warned.

A big kudos to the solo female trapeze artist--her act was indeed out of the most captivating and heart-stopping moments of the show. 

Congratulations to the Saltimbanco cast--I can't wait for the next Cirque du Soleil show in Manila!

When Cirque du Soleil brought "Varekai" to Manila last year, those who have watched it just couldn't stop talking about it, days after they watched the show. The Philippine audience was captivated by the amazing costumes, the death-defying acrobatics by the cast members, and beautiful music and choreography. Those who were not able to watch it (myself included) truly regret missing out and can only listen to other people as they recall their experiences watching the show. 

Those who were not able to watch last year's show and even those who have already watched it will be thrilled to know that from August 9-19, another Cirque du Soleil show, Saltimbanco, will be staged at the new SM Mall of Asia Arena at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
