Calling all Filipino Songwriters!

Calling all Filipino songwriters--now's your chance to show off your talent, and get a chance to win P1M!

Come and join the 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival, a songwriting competition open to all amateur or professional songwriters, who are either Filipino or of Filipino descent, currently living in the Philippines. This competition aims to celebrate the talents of Filipino songwriters, as well as their contributions to the Philippine music industry. Moreover, this competition also aims to:

(1) Provide a channel which Filipino songwriters can create new songs, discover new expressions or genres in popular music;

(2) Spark a renewed awareness, enthusiasm, and pride in Philippine music;

(3) Start a brand new collection of freshly-created Original Pilipino Music (OPM); and

(4) Discover and promote new Filipino songwriters and singers.

The renowned Filipino songwriter and musician Maestro Ryan Cayabyab himself will be orchestrating the competition. He is also the festival's Executive Director. This festival was made possible by Mr. Manny Pangilinan's (the chairman of this festival) and Ricky Vargas' (Organizing Committe Chairman) desire to revive the Philippine music scene, which, admittedly, has been dwindling this past few years.
